Product Support Customer Story
Diamond B Construction and Louisiana Machinery Paving Ahead To Success
Since the road less traveled is often less traveled for a reason, according to Comedian Jerry Seinfeld, the reason may simply be that Diamond B Construction Co., LLC, and it's 360 employees didn't construct it.
Diamond B Construction, an award-winning provider of asphalt and road construction services, prides itself on its quality of mix, its safety record, its skilled workmanship and the smoothness of the roads it constructs. These feats are accomplished by equipping knowledgeable and skilled employees with the best equipment possible from Louisiana Machinery.
"If it's related to asphalt work, you name it and we've probably bought or rented it from Louisiana Machinery,"" said Equipment Maintenance Manager Buster Roque. "We've purchased 12H Motor Graders, AP 1055 Pavers, D5's, 325 Track Hoes and 416 Backhoe Loaders. You name it about anything relating to asphalt".
Buster, who has relied upon Louisiana Machinery since the '80s, said in addition to Diamond B's purchases, it rents approximately 30-40 pieces from Louisiana Machinery. "They treat me right. They treat Diamond B right, "Buster said. "Diamond B works with Louisiana Machinery because of its exceptional service and quality equipment. Their product support is No. 1"
Buster keeps the number of his Product Support Sales Representative, Rodney White, always on hand in his cell phone. "If we have a problem he gets us going just as quickly as possible" he said. "I give Louisiana Machinery a thumbs up. "A recent example of Diamond B Construction and Louisiana Machinery's coordinated effort is seen on Highway 165 between Woodworth and Glenmora, La. "That's a major deal," Buster said. "We are making it four lanes." Other projects include work on Highway 167 north of Dry Prong, La., and work near the intersection of Interstate 55 and Interstate 12.
According to Buster, an average job is manned with approximately four steel wheel rollers, two CAT pavers, and in some cases, dozers, backhoes, motor graders and loaders. Dozers widen the shoulders and improve roadside drainage. Motor graders level and smooth the dirt and backhoes handle any cleaning or digging. Loaders haul stone before pavers lay down asphalt. Then four steel wheel rollers come behind the paver to resurface and smooth the asphalt. Loaders load sand and gravel into holding bins at the asphalt plants. Once mixed, its combined with a tar solution that's heated to 350 degrees, creating asphalt.
Since Diamond B rigorously uses its equipment, Louisiana Machinery's Preventive Maintenance program is integral to operations. According to Buster, Louisiana Machinery services the majority of their new equipment, approximately 40-50 pieces. "They'll come out and service anything, even my non-CAT equipment," he said.
Diamond B also counts upon Louisiana Machinery to supply them with parts. "If for some reason they don't have a part in stock, then they have it to me by the next day," Buster said. "They come through with the parts".
Oil sampling is another great asset for Diamond B. "It let's us know what's going on with the equipment," Buster said. "If you're having a problem it will present itself ahead of time. Oil sampling has saved us lots of money. It definitely helps".
In addition to two mobile plants, Diamond B Construction has six Louisiana locations including plants in Alexandria, Amite, Leesville, Monroe, Mermentau and Vidalia.
Recognized throughout Louisiana for their excellent quality and workmanship, Diamond B continues to grow and meet the asphalt needs of its many fine customers thanks to the support of Louisiana Machinery.
